Résumé

The current state of the Canadian economy was predicted 18 years ago. If it comes as a surprise today, you weren’t paying attention. Research shows the steady growth in short-term contracts, part-time jobs, self-employment and the “gig economy” were all expected. What is surprising is the lack of preparation for this trend. We need to remind ourselves that a full-time job with benefits and a single employer for life was a blip in human history.
How you adapt to the new economy will depend on how you respond to the changes underway.
