Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- I have reviewed the submission categories as listed in the author guidlines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- Has ChatGPT been used at anypoint in this research? If yes, indicate how it has been used in the 'Comments for Editor' below.
- The submission files are in OpenOffice or Word format. (PDF is not accepted)
- Text is single-spaced and in one of the following fonts: (12pt) Times New Roman, (11pt) Georgia, (11pt) Calibri, (11pt) Arial.
- Submission has been formated using the APA 7th edition publication standards (if applicable to submission category).
- All tables, charts, and graphs are indicated in the main file where they are to be placed. They are saved as their own seperate file. You will be asked to upload them individually in the next step.
Articles
This section is for completed research. Inclusive of all topics. Usually ethics level research. Authors are typically faculty or graduate students.
Criteria:
- 30 pages maximum (inclusive of references)
- Accepted file formats: doc, docs, pdf
- Times New Roman, 12 font, single spaced
- Normal margins on letter-size pages
- Abstract in English or French and not exceeding 200 words
- All tables, graphs, or photos must be on their own individual pages. These pages do not count towards your page limit
- APA 6th edition publication formatting
Research-In-Motion
This is for research that is currently being undertaken or reporting on initial findings of a longitudinal study/program. Usually ethics level research. Authors are typically faculty or graduate students.
Criteria:
- 15 pages maximum (inclusive of references)
- Accepted file formats: doc, docs, pdf
- Times New Roman, 12 font, single spaced
- Normal margins on letter-size pages
- Abstract in English or French and not exceeding 200 words
- All tables and graphs must be on their own individual page. These pages do not count towards your page limit
- APA 7th edition publication formatting
Graduate Student Research Briefs
This is a brief synopsis of graduate research that is either about to start, currently being undertaken or reporting on final work. Restricted to graduate student research. Graduate student must be first author.
Criteria:
- 5 pages maximum (inclusive of references)
- Accepted file formats: doc, docs, pdf
- Times New Roman, 12 font, single spaced
- Normal margins on letter-size pages
- Abstract in English or French and not exceeding 200 words
- Each tables and graphs must be on their own individual page. These pages do not count towards your page limit
- APA 7th edition publication formatting
Practitioners & Community Practices
Peer Review Category
This is for promotion of best practices, new techniques, new programs and program results from the community level. Articles can be written by career practitioners and counsellors. Individuals in faculty positions with Ethics approval research should publish under the Peer-Reviewed Regular article category.
Submission of a best practices article does not guarantee publication. Final decision on publication will be done by the Editorial Board.
Criteria:
- 10 pages maximum
- Accepted file formats: doc, docs, pdf
- Times New Roman, 12 font, single spaced
- Normal margins on letter-size pages
- Abstract in English or French and not exceeding 200 words
- All tables, graphs or photos must be on their own individual page at the end of the article
Academic Book Reviews
Non-Peer Review Category.
Reviews of academic-level career books that would be of interest to faculty and students. Topic must be on career development. Review author must provide their credentials and expertise on the book’s topic to Editorial Staff.
Submission of a book review does not guarantee publication. Final decision on publication will be done by the Editorial Board.
Criteria:
- Reviewers cannot be one of the book authors
- Reviewers must not be paid for the review by book authors or publisher
- 2-4 pages maximum
- Abstract in English or French and not exceedig 200 words
- Accepted file formats: doc, docs, pdf
- Times New Roman, 12 font
Non-Academic Book Reviews
Non-Peer Review Category.
Reviews of career and career development books that would be of interest to career practitioners. Review author must provide their credentials and expertise on the book’s topic to Editorial Staff.
Submission of a book review does not guarantee publication. Final decision on publication will be done by the Editorial Board.
Criteria:
- Reviewers cannot be one of the book authors
- Reviewers must not be paid for the review by book authors or publisher
- 2-4 pages maximum
- Abstract in English or French and not exceeding 200 words
- Accepted file formats: doc, docs, pdf
