Qui suis-je en tant que futur professionnel ? Examen du statut d'identité professionnelle parmi les étudiants de premier cycle en STEMM selon les données démographiques

En 2015, Mancini et al. ont validé et publié le questionnaire sur le statut d'identité professionnelle (PISQ-5d). Cette enquête utilise cinq facteurs pour mesurer la manière dont un individu s'identifie dans le domaine professionnel qu'il a choisi. Ces dernières années, l'enquête a été modifiée et adaptée à d'autres domaines tels que les soins infirmiers et le travail social, ainsi qu'aux étudiants des programmes de sciences, technologie, ingénierie, mathématiques et pré-médecine (STEMM). Dans le cadre de cette étude, l'enquête PISQ-5d a été utilisée pour déterminer comment les étudiants de premier cycle d'un établissement accueillant des étudiants hispaniques s'identifient en tant que futurs professionnels dans leur domaine. Les résultats de cette étude visent à mieux comprendre comment des étudiants d'horizons différents se rapportent à leur futur métier en comparant leur identité professionnelle à partir d'une multitude de données démographiques et académiques, notamment l'identité de genre, l'identité raciale et ethnique, l'admission, le programme d'études STEM, y compris les étudiants en médecine (STEMM), le classement dans la classe, la classification de première génération et les besoins financiers. Les résultats de cette étude montrent de multiples différences statistiquement significatives entre les étudiants de différentes catégories démographiques. Cette étude montre également comment cette enquête peut être utilisée pour identifier les personnes STEMM qui peuvent présenter des lacunes en matière de développement professionnel ou de carrière alors qu'elles s'efforcent de devenir de futurs professionnels dans leur domaine.
